The Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) hosted its 2026 Beauty Collective Summit in Key Biscayne, FL on March 23-25. Executives, innovators and scientists gathered to take stock of challenges and opportunities in the beauty industry.

The Summit focused on specifics—such as EPR, FDA and trade policy—but also presented opportunities to glean insight from experts outside the confines of beauty.

The “Insights from the Top” panel on March 24 featured industry veterans Dana D. Medema, president, North America at Revlon; Chris Payne, CEO of Jane Iredale; Lionel Uzan, president, North America, Groupe Clarins; and David Greenberg, chairman, L’Oréal USA, Inc., who served as moderator.

Panelists noted the beauty market’s resilience, but also acknowledged the unique challenges the sector faces.

Medema of Revlon, for example, noted that beauty has never been more fragmented or fast-moving.

“This has required us to have a laser-like focus on who we’re trying to serve,” she said.

Payne of Jane Iredale noted the size of the industry and the blurring of the lines in the marketplace.

“I think it’s fair to say there’s never been more products available in the history of beauty. I don’t think it’s been easier to shop for beauty than it is right now, in terms of channel or distribution,” Payne said. “But it’s also arguably never been more confusing or difficult to navigate. There used to be a very distinct separation between mass and prestige and uber specialty… I don’t think that’s the case anymore.”

“This is a very resilient industry—that’s the good thing and we’re lucky to be in this industry,” noted Uzan of Groupe Clarins. He also acknowledged how the current complexities of the market are placing pressure on organizations.

“The team must develop new skills every season,” he asserted, adding that Groupe Clarins blends new talent and existing team members to “balance innovation and heritage.”

Additional sessions during the 2026 Beauty Collective Summit included, among others:

  • From Disruption to Action: How Beauty Leaders Must Respond to Trade Policy Uncertainty.
  • From Insight to Impact: Transforming with Analytics, Automation and AI.
  • Buy No Lie: Counterfeit Cosmetics, Consumer Trust and What Comes Next.
  • Environmental Impact of Cosmetic Ingredients: Evaluating Cosmetics Through a Realistic Environmental Lens.
  • State of the State: Understanding Packaging Policy in 2026 and Beyond Regulation & Global Impact.
  • Chemosensory Best Practices, Challenges, and Opportunities for Brand Leaders.
  • Retail, Regulation and Reputation – What’s Coming in ’26.

At the Beauty Collective Summit, PCPC presented the Madam C.J. Walker Award for Excellence to three individuals.

PCPC received a record-breaking 300 nominations this year for the annual award, which is named for the boundary-breaking beauty entrepreneur.

“That’s 300 stories of leadership, impact and service to the community. It is a powerful reminder that the spirit of Madam Walker continues to shape the industry today,” said Tesia Williams, executive vice president, public affairs and communications at PCPC, during the ceremony in Key Biscayne, FL.

This year’s winners are:

  • Erica Roberson, vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) in L’Oréal’s Professional Products Division;
  • Vera Moore is founder and CEO of Vera Moore Cosmetics, a beauty business she built from the ground up, inspiring women to pursue opportunities in major retail spaces; and
  • Robert Cradle, managing director of Rob’s Barbershop Community Foundation, a master barber, shop owner and community leader who created an apprenticeship program to teach and mentor students in Maryland and to educate barbers and cosmetologists about the CROWN Act.

Next up for PCPC is the 2026 Legal & Regulatory Conference, June 3-5 at the Drake Hotel in Chicago.
